The origins of polo in Poland date back to the late 19th century when a family of Polish aristocrats established a team at their Lancut estate and traveled Central Europe competing against teams in Austria, Hungary, and Germany. In the early 1920's, the game was adopted by the Polish cavalry. The World Wars left a long wake of struggle for the nation and its sports and leisure. Polo re-emerged in 2002 and today there are seven hubs for the sport around the country, including arena polo, snow polo, and traditional grass polo! The Polish national team participated in the FIP European Championship in 2016, and used their experiences to plan their strategy for 2018.
