USA vs. Scotland

Scotland makes its celebrated return to Newport this season to compete against USA in the Newport International Polo Series on Saturday, June 15th at 5pm.

The Scottish team will make its 10th appearance in the Polo Series, defending its glorious 2012 victory against USA.  “The Scots have brought a secret weapon each year, and we will be on our guard,” stated Dan Keating, captain of the USA team.

"Polo is an international sport, played in over 80 countries around the globe, and we are honored to have teams traveling great distances to play in Newport," stated Dan Keating, captain of the USA squad.

A weekly door prize drawing will be awarded during the match.  The two-hour match will be followed by a champagne trophy presentation of the perpetual USA vs.Scotland silver bowl, inaugurated in 2003,  and the naming of the Best Playing Pony, as well as autograh signing and cocktail hour with the players.

A following of Scottish fans from throughout the region has grown each year in attendance at the match, wearing kilts and waving 'the Saltire' St. Andrews cross in lively support of their fellow countrymen.

The polo matches run continuously every Saturday from June through September at 5pm (4pm in September).

The Polo Series has hosted 27 teams from 6 continents including Ireland, Germany, Spain, England, Argentina, France, Egypt, India, Australia, Costa Rica, Ghana, Canada, Chile, Jamaica, Nigeria, Portugal, New Zealand, Barbados, Scotland, South Africa, Hungary, Dominican Republic, Netherlands, Kenya, Brazil, China and Italy.

This is the 22nd season of the Newport International Polo Series, presented by your Rhode Island BMW Centers, and sponsored by NewportRI.com, Alex and Ani, The Newport Beach Club, Hotel Viking, KPMG, Clarke Cooke House, Rockstar Limo, Massage Envy, Lufthansa,
Stillwater Spa at Hyatt Regency Newport, McGrath Clambakes, WCRI Classical Radio, Vanderbilt International Properties, Chase Canopy, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte and
promotional partners including The Preservation Society of Newport, Bird’s Eye View Helicopter
Tours, America's Cup Charters, the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Rentals Unlimited, and Discover Newport. “Our sponsors have been with us since the beginning. Without their support, the Series would not be as extensive as it is,” explains Dan Keating, Polo Series founder.

We invite you to enjoy the picturesque setting of Glen Farm, the last 100 acres of what was
once a 700-acre manorial farm whose settlement dates back to the 1600's. Its classical stone barns from the Gilded Age and its park-like grounds were rehabilitated by Keating, and thrive today as an equestrian & community recreational property, and home of the Polo Series.
