USA vs. Ireland / BMW Test Drives

The Irish Polo Team makes its 22^nd consecutive appearance on Saturday, July 6, at 5pm before an anticipated record crowd at the Newport International Polo Series, Presented by your Rhode Island BMW Centers.
 
The Irish team journeys each year from the Wicklow Polo Club south of Dublin on the Irish Sea.  Playing for Ireland will be the top female player in Ireland, Siobhan Herbst and company.
 
At the polo grounds from 1-4pm, your Rhode Island BMW Centers will offer test drives of their latest model BMW ultimate driving machines.

Dan Keating, Polo Series founder added, “The Irish team is the only one with a track record of consecutive appearances dating back to our inaugural season.  We thank Michael Herbst and the Wicklow Polo Club for bringing competitive teams year after year.  In so doing, he has established a following of fans and players alike that is unprecedented in international polo.”
 
After 6 periods called chukkers, the match will conclude with a trophy presentation of the perpetual USA vs. Ireland cup, inaugurated in 1992, and naming of the 'Best Playing Pony', and the annual Asado Lamb Roast in their honor.  Reservations to the dinner can be made online while supplies last (see News & Events).

Dating back more than 130 years in Newport, the polo matches are a unique and popular
summertime tradition in the City by the Sea, open to the public. Audiences of several thousand spectators enjoy cheering for both teams.

The Polo Series will host international teams this season from Barbados, Scotland,
Ireland, Spain, Italy, Jamaica, England and Monaco, as well as teams from major US cities and New England.

The polo matches will run continuously every Saturday from June through September. The
Polo Series takes place in the picturesque setting of Glen Farm, the last 100 acres of what was once a 700-acre manorial farm whose settlement dates back to the 1600's. Its classical stone barns from the Gilded Age and its park-like grounds were rehabilitated by Keating and thrive today as an equestrian & community recreational property, and home of the Polo Series.
