Newport Girls Win First Match
On an Indian summer afternoon with an audience of supporters, family and friends, the Newport and Yale interscholastic girls teams played a fast, open 4-chukker match at galloping speeds, while skillfully handling a string of polo ponies and demonstrating their polo prowess.
Newport's interscholastic girls team defeated Yale last Sunday, Nov. 13 in their first match this season. Jenna Davis, playing #1, Abby MacKenzie at #2 and Minnie Keating at #3 hosted the Yale team and its players #1 Ula Green, #2 Phoebe Rohn and #3 Millie Maggio at Newport's outdoor arena in Portsmouth.
The Newport team will play a series of home and away matches over the next 3 months to qualify for the regional tournament at UConn in February, hosted by the United States Polo Association.
