Partygoers will make a sparkling red carpet entrance for the 18th annual International Polo Charity Ball, christened Midnight in Marrakesh, in honor of the Moroccan Polo Team, supporting Save The Bay. Here's a sneak peek of what to expect at the sold-out black-tie affaire.
Festivities commence with Sunset in Marrakesh, the official meet & greet cocktail party with the Moroccan Polo Team and gala Ambassadors. All polo fans are invited to join the fun by RSVP on the Regent Deck at Gurney's Newport Resort and Marina, the official Moroccan Team headquarters and gala hotel. Black tie is optional. Meet Team Morocco, returning for its second challenge against USA, sanctioned by King Mohammed VI. Learn more about the important conservation efforts of Save The Bay to protect Narragansett Bay and its watershed. Enjoy fine libations and one of the best sunset views in Newport.
Next, the party will commence to the main event at Rosecliff as guests make a red carpet entrance to the famed Gilded Age mansion. A silent auction on the terrace with a beautiful collection of curated prizes will be the first stop before guests drift onto the lawn for photo opportunities with the stunning Rhode Island Sound as their backdrop.
The Cocktail Guru will be serving up signature drinks while guests sip and socialize. The classic Westchester Fizz inspired by the Newport International Polo Series will be on offer, as well as two special creations in honor of Morocco. Morocco's climate is ideal for growing a wide range of fruits that have been mixed into the signature creation. Le Passion de Polo is based on the Moroccan staple, mint tea, enhanced with Kina Lillet, a spiced wine based on Bordeaux grapes and Moroccan Oranges, followed up with St. Germain, fruit de passion, citron, cumin and topped with champagne. A mocktail version named the Marrakesh Refresher will also be served, with mint tea, fruit de passion, and citron.
After a stroll around the grounds, silent auction, and photo ops, guests can sit down for a traditional henna application, before adjourning to the ballroom for a sumptuous Moroccan menu prepared by Blackstone Catering, inspired by the aromatic and delicious spices of North Africa. A whirlwind live auction wizarded by Sotheby's auctioneer, Hugh Hildesley will offer up the nights crown jewels. Dancing to the tune of Decades by Dezyne will ensue 'till the stroke of midnight, followed by the last dance atop the Clarke Cooke House in the Skybar.
Guests will receive delightful party favors from Marrakesh and the not yet released September issue of Elle Decor magazine, whose cover story features Moroccan interior design!
